I had previously written about Mikogo and even used it to diagnose a problem on my brother’s laptop remotely (I’m in Australia and he’s in Malaysia). Version 2.0 of Mikogo has recently been released with several major improvements.

AVG Free Edition is the well-known antivirus protection tool and is free of charge to home users for the life of the product. Rapid virus database updates are available for the lifetime of the product, thereby providing the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers.
I’ve been personally using AVG Free for more then 2 years now and automatic updates is working great. But a question was recently asked if you can download the updates manually from a site or ftp.

Dirty Wall Street, Greedy Bastards, Idiots, Lies and Bullshit Rating System
Forgive me if I feel a bit skeptical about the finance and banking industry at the moment. It seems like this whole recession problem that we are having now thanks to the subprime is all due to greed itself and there was really nothing to govern it and pull the plug when they were already seeing it coming. But then, why would anyone in the industry want to pull the plug anyway?

Integrate Outlook with Skype, Yahoo Mail, Facebook and LinkedIn
Xobni, my favorite plugin for Outlook, has just got better after more public API has been consumed and allowing it to interact with popular third party applications and web services such as Skype, Yahoo Mail and LinkedIn. You can now read your yahoo mail in outlook but will still need to open up the webpage of Ymail to be able to send a new email.

Search Marketing Gets Better and Tougher with Google SearchWiki
Google launched SearchWiki last week, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I’ve seen anything on the Australian SERP. Here’s what it looks like when I’ve search for my latest post in Google. Please note that you must be signed in to a Google account to be able to use SearchWiki though.

Are Your Adsense Earnings Off The Cliff?
At least mine is, well, sort of. My tech sites are performing a bit strangely this month, traffic has been down, CTR is lower, but eCPM is higher compared to last month. What’s interesting is that my gaming related site is actually performing crazily well this month, seeing the highest adsense CTR and earnings per click for the whole year and even getting a few sales from Amazon affiliates which is seriously rare since I don’t promote them much at all. The only explanation that I can derive from this experience is that people are really shopping for physical goods for thanksgiving, christmas and the new year. If your site can be monetized by selling some physical products, I suggest you do it and don’t rely on Google Adsense as your sole online income.
You know what people do in a recession? They don’t actually stop buying and consuming. They are just more cautious, buy stuffs that are cheaper and stay in home and do in-house entertainment more often. Doesn’t that mean something to you if you’re an affiliate marketer?
All The Barack Obama Headlines and Campaign Buttons
You just can’t believe how big this is when the man won the American president election. The headlines and campaign buttons really says something about this man.
SocialTwist Tell A Friend: Online Word Of Mouth Marketing Tool
Social Bookmarking is a good way of getting backlinks and new visitors to your site. If you have good contents, the aim is to go viral, to have someone bookmark your site, email, share, talk and spread it like wildfire.
It was probably by coincidence that I wrote this AddThis VS ShareThis post two days ago, then found out about “Tell A Friend” yesterday and been using it since.

Good Reasons To Upgrade To Office 2007?
I know what most people will say that new is better and that as a technology/IT worker you have to keep up with technology. I simply don’t buy into this crap. Technology is simply here to assist you to improve productivity and do whatever you want to get done, rather than making people feel cool just because the software introduces some shiny buttons and ribbon bars hanging on top of the screen shouting out for attention. Oh, I’m talking about Microsoft Office 2007, not Iphones or IPods (which appears to be shiny and sleek for some other good reasons).

Kevin Rudd Goes Social, Promotes New Site On YouTube
It was nice to see that the newly elected Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd introducing himself and his new website at KevinPM.com.au. The video got my attention as it was listed in the “featured videos” list and must have probably gone viral by now.
