If you own a website, web traffic is one of those metrics whereby you measure how successful your website is. More traffic equals more readers, customers, sales, leads, partners, friends etc. The mentality of “build it and they will come” simply don’t apply on the internet as users browse and scan through what you have to offer on your website and that the average attention span of a web user is merely 8 seconds!
How To Get Lots of Web Traffic
I won’t bore you with designing a good landing page or having an appealing website layout since those are mostly cosmetics and does take effort and skills to design an appealing one. If you can’t make your web page really beautiful, at least keep it simple and usable. So let’s move on.
There are 2 type of traffic, targeted and untargeted.
If you’re simply into traffic, the easiest and fastest way to gain “untargeted” traffic is to spot trends. There are a few which I’ve written about in the past such as Google Insights, google trends, twitter popular trends, ebay pulse, google news, amazon top selling products and yahoo buzz are just a few that pops up in my head.
Targeted traffic on the other hand needs a little more work and has also been discussed in this 6 tips for more traffic to your website but if you’re short of time and money, yahoo answers, article submission and newsletter opt-ins are great places to start. Adwords, YSM and Adcenter PPC, Facebook plus media buys are also profitable areas that you can look into if you have the money to spend and the resources to manage your campaigns, inventories and reports. Setting up your own affiliate program is the most profitable IMHO as you’ll literary get lots of other people promoting your product in hope of making a commission out of the stuff that you sell to your customers.
Do you have a secret tactic of getting more traffic to your web property?

Web visitors like to find things that are free. Something that is useful and valuable. If you give it to them, they will tell their friends about the outstanding products your website offers. I have built two websites that offer a significant amount of free printable resources. The first one, launched less than two years ago, now welcomes over 150,000 visitors each month. I attribute this website’s success to the free resources and our commitment to quality.

web-site promotion is without question basically all about the numbers of other web sites linking to you. when not having these one-way links you are usually dead in the water.
