How To Open and Save Office 2007 Files in Office 2003

Most home users who haven’t upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 have probably met this problem where they you can’t find a way to open documents, spreadsheets and presentations that were created in Office 2007. Some people even upgraded to Office 2007 just because of that!

The problem is due to the fact that:

Microsoft has added the new Office Open XML Formats to the following 2007 Microsoft Office programs:
– Microsoft Office Excel 2007
– Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
– Microsoft Office Word 2007

And this new Open XML formats doesn’t exist yet when Office 2003 was release back then.

However, if you don’t feel like upgrading, try installing this compatibility pack by Microsoft. With this, you can then open and save files in Office 2003 just like you were using Office 2007.
