Was trying to get the word count of an article I was editing in Notepad++ and thought that it might be somewhere in the status bar (as in Microsoft Word), but found only characters count and lines count available.
To get the word count, you will need to select all your text (CTRL+A), and goto TextFX > TextFX Tools > Word Count.
If there’s a better way to do this, please leave a comment below, thanks.
Update
Thanks to Ian and someguy, there’s indeed a better and faster way to get the word count in Notepad++
1. From the menu bar, click View > Summaryโฆ
2. Double click on the status bar at the bottom where it says โlength : xxx lines : xxxโ

I want to learn how count words in notepad. So please you can provide ebooks for notepad .
David says
We’re talking about a free open source text editor knows as Notepad++, not the one delivered with Windows (Notepad).
There’s no need for an ebook, just go download Notepad++, use it and read the help file when you can’t figure things out.
Lastly, there’s always google to find what you want. ๐

There IS a better way, and it’s simpler than you might think. Since NP++ v5.8 there is a word count included in the Summary. You have two options to display this (maybe more, I don’t know):
1. From the menu bar, View > Summary…
2. Double click on the status bar at the bottom where it says “length : xxx lines : xxx”
The Summary window appears, with line, word and character counts. Quick, magic.
David says
Thanks Ian, that’s a great tip. Quick + magic indeed!

2.) press Ctrl+F
3.) Click Count
–At the bottom of the Find box, you will see the number of occurences in your file for your selection.

Or you can just count the number of spaces if you’ve selected just a paragraph…
