I don’t get it. What’s so superior about rapidshare that netizens and file uploaders are so keen about to upload their files to be hosted by rapidshare?
Yeah, it might had been one of the pioneers in the online direct upload/download file sharing scence, but there are so many alternatives these days such as megaupload, depositfiles, sendspace, hotfiles, and mediafire. Mediafire, for one, is my personal favorite as downloaders can download as much files as they want at any time unlike rapidshare’s stingy download-one-file-at-a-time-and-wait-xxx-minutes after a download has finish before starting another one. Unless you have a premium account, downloading from rapidshare is really such a pain!
Now if someone can please explain, that would be great.

Infact these days, RapidShare has stopped downloads for Free user. Not literally, but they display a message that the servers are busy and try again after 2 minutes.
ON the other side, I understand their problem – the revenue generation versus expenditure would be great. They have to switch to pay mode else they will die. But there was a better way to do it. They could have flashed a message to the uploaders that they will not allow free downloads etc.
Rapidshare is behaving unprofessionaly and I strongly suggest that people should switch over to other such websites.

Free download from Rapidshare is like winning the lottery.

Yea. They’re nothing more than dollar whore$ and cannot understand why people especially here in the united states would pay the enormous charges for using that service. Boycott the foreign bastards folks.

I agree Rapidshare sucks. So does Megaupload, Netload, etc… The only service I’ve found that is worth a damn is Mediafire. Don’t have to be a member, never have to wait and can download multiple files at the same time. I don’t understand why more uploaders aren’t using Mediafire. Their uploads would see a lot more traffic on a better site like Mediafire.

Exactly! Mediafire is so much better and hassle free. If only those uploaders see this the same way as we do.

Actually Megaupload is pretty good with speed 200kbs + , no waiting after downloading time and only 25 sec wait, with max file 1gb (free member) and though one file only. It is still good. so Please to throw Netload and Megaupload into same place. But Yes Mediafire Rocks and nearly no one uploads on it >_<

The question is… How do we convince people to drop RS in favor of Mediafire? I completely agree with what you guys are saying. There are no words to describe how much I DESPISE Rapidshare and it’s a complete mystery why people still use them. I personally try to boycott them, and now with their block on free users, it’s never been easier

I’ve been trying to download a Java compiler for my Windows Mobile cell phone from Rapidshare and keep getting these weird error messages such as they are having server problems or that my IP is already downloading another file (which is BS). I refuse to pay for their service since I only want to download this one file.

Long time waiting find this topic…. this is real!!!!!!
rapidshare is suck!!!!!!!!
Compare eith this, in NovaUp.com i got everything! fast upload, multi segment download, download many files at once!
I download diablo lately and it only takes few hour in dial up modem.
If you do that in rapidshare, you will rooten before you get your file.
Short word, rapidshare is not number one!

novaup looks a bit new and unpolished to me, I would still go for mediafire if you ask me.

The reasons I have an premium account on rapidshare.
1. Most of the uploads are still on RS
2. RS has not any Ads.
3. They have great customer support
