Social Bookmarking is a good way of getting backlinks and new visitors to your site. If you have good contents, the aim is to go viral, to have someone bookmark your site, email, share, talk and spread it like wildfire.
It was probably by coincidence that I wrote this AddThis VS ShareThis post two days ago, then found out about “Tell A Friend” yesterday and been using it since.
So What Is Tell A Friend?
Tell-A-Friend (TAF) widget is an innovative Word-Of-Mouth Marketing Tool. Unlike most other TAF implementations, SocialTwist helps users reach friends through their address book as well as other channels such as blogs, IM, and social networking sites like Facebook. The SocialTwist TAF is a simple to use Word-of-Mouth=Marketing tool. And it is Free!
This video shows it in pictures
Should You Use It?
I would definately say yes. And there’s really no reason not to. You can see it implemented on the end of each post on this blog now. While AddThis is currently still my favorite to allow my visitors to do social bookmarking, Tell A Friend provides 3 extras channels:
1. Email friends + friends + friends
How many friends do you think your visitors have in their address book?
2. Instant Messaging
I know I have way lots of friends on my IM contact lists
Can you imagine when someone really blogs about your story?!
You see, it really is more then a simple social bookmark tool. And from Vivek’s email, it looks like some work is getting done on social bookmarking too.
The next time I build a new site, Tell A Friend will definately be one of the first thing I think of putting onto my site. Word of Mouth Markerting is pure gold and using Tell A Friend is a good way of getting it done.
