The CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association) has targetted Demoioind this time and currenty it’s still unsure how the owners of Demonoid will react. Their web hosting company has chose to favor the CRIA and took the website down.
What is left, however, is just a plain message:
“The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.”
I’ve read previously from online forums and fellow webmasters that the hosting regulations aren’t as tight to those in the states. One thing that I do know is that, lots of porn and adult oriented content sites are hosted on Canadian servers. And in this case, illegal copyrighted contents that are shared through torrents are often hosted on Canadian servers as well. Looks like Demonoid got hit pretty hard.
Don’t complain when you see some of your torrents are having a status of “Tracker Down”. If you check the torrent properties, you might find that it’s hosted with demonoid.
