It has been only a few weeks since WordPress 2.6 has been released and now the developers are again targetting for a new release. You can have a look at what new features has been propsed in WordPress 2.7 from the wordpress codex.
Of particular interest to me are:
1. One Click Plugin Install
Not to say that the existing plugin management system is not good, but if it can be improved, that would be even better.
2. WordPress Code Updating
It’s simply awesome if you can click on a button and WordPress will update itself from say 2.6 to 2.7. The The WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin does this job perfectly currently.
3. Theme Update API
When your favorite wordpress theme is updated, you will be notified and install it from your wordpress admin, just like the way plugins are handled currently.
4. Sitemaps and threaded comments support
Looks like wordpress is starting to think of integrating some of the most popular wordpress plugins to the core. That would take out a lot of work from the users side.
