Been spending more time then I intended to in front of the tele watching live matches from Australian Open 2009. It started on Monday and since then I’ve been hooked. Not much surprises yet as most of my favorites are still in the game. Watching tennis can be really addictive if you can get what I mean – Aces, Strokes, Skirts, Boobs, the player’s determination etc. It’s like betting horses, just that there’s a 50-50 chances that you will win instead of a heap of horses running at the same time.
Anyway, here are my personal favorites based on my observations for this week
Men – Roger Federer, Rafal Nadal and Tsonga
Roger looked pretty consistent in his play to win against Marat Safin. Definately better then he was last year and ready for Djokovic if he gets through Baghdatis and possibly Roddick after that. Would like to see a match between Tsonga and Andy Murray which looks highly possible at this stage. If all goes well to my favor, Tsonga and Nadal might meet again in the semis which will be a replay of last year’s semi.
Women – Jelena Dokic, Carla Suarez Navarro and Jelena Jankovic
I love black horses. What else can I say. Dokic ground strokes are strong and solid while Navarro’s single handed backhand (which earns most of her points against Venus Willaims) can make me watch all day. If I’ve got to pick a seeded player, that would be Jankovic as it’s likely that she will be crusing through to the semis before meeting some real challenge.
The best thing that might happen? R.Federe and J.Dokic for champion. I’m all in!
